Heads Up Special Riders

Heads Up Special Riders is a small therapeutic horseback-riding program located at Hasty Acres.  Heads Up is non-profit, and relies on contributions and volunteers to conduct its programs.

 Therapeutic riding encompasses equine-based recreational activities for participants with mobility limitations, developmental disabilities and other special needs.

 Therapeutic riding activities can:

• Build self-awareness, concentration skills, self-discipline, and self-confidence

• Improve strength, posture, balance, joint mobility, muscle tone, and coordination.

 Therapeutic riding activities also lead to real achievements in horsemanship.

 Benefits to riders and their families are well documented and easily observed, but Heads Up also provides joyful and rewarding experiences for all participants – from students to instructors to volunteers.

 Children’s classes are held Monday evenings from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and adult classes by appointment on other weekdays.
