Hasty Acres started in October of 1959, after accepting the Princeton, NJ YMCA riding program. The program had been held at the Princeton Riding Center, which burned down in the summer of 1959.

Before the fire at Princeton Riding Center, those horses had to come to Hasty Acres during the spring "vacation" since there was no pasture land available at the Riding Center.

The Hasty Acres program started with 8 of the original Princeton Riding Center horses, and has grown over the years to having 13 school horses, summer camp, and a Therapeutic program with certified instructors.
