Riding Lessons

We offer English and Western riding lessons for people of all ages (starting at 7) and riding ability - from those who have never been on a horse to experienced riders who wish to polish their skills. Hasty Acres is a complete facility with friendly, professional staff qualified to teach everyone from the beginner to the advanced rider. Our riding programs offer you a way to relax, get some exercise, and enjoy fresh air and the outdoors. More than that, we want to share with you our love affair with horses! It's important because it means that Hasty Acres offers a strong commitment in providing a quality learning experience for the student, and the experience and knowledge to make that happen.

Our commitment is to quality not quantity. The number of students in each group lesson is limited so that each student receives individual attention. Students are grouped according to ability and experience level, we also try our best to place students in the same age groups. We are dedicated to providing a complete education in horsemanship, so our students receive instruction not only in riding, but also in proper handling of horses from the ground, horse management and care, selection and care of proper tack and equipment, and much, much more! We offer continuous enrollment, so you may begin your lessons as soon as you wish and you pay-per-lesson. For students with some riding experience and a desire to ride more often, without the obligations of horse ownership, we offer leasing.

Why take horse riding lessons?

The answer is simple. Lessons are your opportunity to turn an interest into a passion and gain the confidence, happiness, and pride that horseback riding can offer

We offer group and private lessons. Our group lessons comprise up to 5 - 6 students of similar age and riding ability.
1 Hour Group Lesson: $40
1 Hour Private Lesson: $80
1/2 Hour Private Lesson: $40

Our school horses are patient and well mannered, and are specially trained to assist in the process of learning to ride.

Students are required to wear long pants, riding boots, and helmets.

We do have riding helmets for new students to borrow until they purchase their own. Stitching Horse Saddlery is located a mile away from us and they sell riding equipment (helmets, boots, breeches, etc.)

Pasture Buddies

Our NEW Horsemanship Program, called “Pasture Buddies” offers children quality interactions with horses and a team of equine professionals. Curriculum-based lessons and enrichment activities provide children a sound foundation in horsemanship.  One-on-one instruction is given from the ground up in a safely designed environment. Children not only learn basic care, handling, and riding skills, but also horse anatomy, routine and emergency medical care, and exposure to the field of equine training, all done un-mounted.

One hour at the barn not enough for your rider?  Then our Pasture Buddies program is what you are looking for!  This is a unique program that offers equine knowledge to children and is based on solely working with the horses un- mounted.  This program is ideal for students with an eagerness to learn beyond the saddle and is a great addition for a child already enrolled in riding lessons. Every week, each student is assigned a horse they will take care of -  grooming, bathing, feeding, hand grazing, and training with on the ground. After sessions with “their” horses, students will learn topics from equine management to horse health. There is something new to learn every week!

Pasture Buddies runs every Wednesday from 4:00PM to 6:00PM but spots must be reserved so please call us ahead of time!

 $35 per person.
